Brand Tags

Since launching last Friday, Noah Briar's newest venture has gotten over 80,000 hits.  Another Web 2.0 experiment, Brand Tags is a simple application that allows people to enter words they associate with specific brands.  It actually feels more like play than it does research.

The basic idea of this site is that a brand exists entirely in people's heads. Therefore, whatever it is they say a brand is, is what it is.

This concept would be interesting to overlay onto church life.  As consumers gain more power in shaping brands and not just reacting to them, we have to remember that only the Word should shape who we are and what we become.  Having said that, it would be interesting to have this tool applied to local churches to see how they are viewed in a community.  I don't think you ever will or ever should get 100% postive review.  In fact, Jesus said if you were following Him, you wouldn't.

Equally telling would be to have this applied to individuals.  I know I wouldn't want that kind of scrutiny thrown my way.  Just look at Noah's other site, Celebrity Tags and you'll see why.
