  • Happy Birthday to the coolest kid on the planet!  Benaiah turns six today.  So proud of you son.
  • Just read the most incredible blog post.  I wish I had written it because it sums up succinctly what I think and feel about Western church life.  Challenging personally as well.
  • Had a great time with friends last night at the J Clyde.  Happy birthday, Cody.
  • Now that Ben has a "real" light saber that glows and makes noise... he wants a Ben Kenobi outfit.  Me too, son... me too.
  • Looking forward to next weekend when Wade, Christian, Adam, and Jerilyn come up for Fourth of July.  Blue Water is the place to be.
  • Really hoping to do little Sporting Clays blasting with the boys.
  • Don't take this the wrong way but: Is it just me or does it seem like Ed McMahon died soooooooo long ago.
  • If you didn't see my Tweet.. you must watch this: The Worst Moonwalk Instructional Video Ever.
  • Looking for a house to rent in the Helena area.  Anyone know of somebody who's renting?
  • I like iPhone 3.0.  When you use this thing like I do, all the enhancements they just added make life even easier.
  • So we took Benaiah to the Southern Museum of Flight this week.  Maria saw a hat with the letters WTF and had to buy it.  It stands for Women Take Flight.  I don't know what you were thinking.... sinner.
  • Just in case you've never noticed... if you like the stuff on DNSLNS then you may be interested in the stuff I come across daily.  You can find the best stuff on the homepage down at the bottom under My Deliciousness.  Those are my Delicious bookmarks.  I'm just saying.
  • I know it's everywhere but I gotta ask...

What's your favorite MJ song or video?

  • I'm enjoying pizza and Newcastle on Father's Day with my wife beside me and Star Wars with Benaiah.  How about you?
  • I'm fiending for some Wagamama but don't want to have to fly to London.
  • Missing my Irish friends.
  • Synecdoche, NY was a weird movie.  Fell asleep with 10 minutes left.  Need to finish before the ATV rental runs out.
  • Looking forward to Highlands at 6.
  • I'm wanting to blog more seriously.  So stay tuned.
  • Thinking about my friends Art and Lisa... and little Eli.
  • It was good to reconnect with my friend, Jay Pesek, this past week.  Looking forward to more of it.
  • The first episode and trailer for LifeAfter rocks!  Great job guys.
  • Looking forward to taking Benaiah to the Anniston Museum of Natural History.  I think he thinks everything is going to come to life like on Night at the Museum.
  • Ben turns six next Sunday.  I'm excited for him and yet this particular one is bittersweet.
  • Sooooo looking forward to the 4th of July when I'll have true friends close by.  Nothing better.

Sunday Randomness - June 14, 2009

Well, it's been a full week since anything has popped up on DNSLNS.  That's the longest hiatus since the relaunch.  We had a slammed week in production on LifeAfter, the TV pilot for Halogen.  80 hours in 6 days.  So, you can image that tweeting, blogging, and Facebooking took a backseat.  But, to fire things back up again on this rainy Sunday morning... Here's a little randomness for you.

  • I have 6128 unread RSS articles in NetNewsWire.  We'll see if my OCD kicks in requiring that I process them instead of just marking them all as read.
  • Ben wants a space-rocket birthday coming up in a couple of weeks.  He's going to be an astronaut when he grows up.
  • It's rainy cats and dogs outside right now (as opposed to inside).
  • I love saving the world on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.  Sorry geeking out there on everyone.
  • I'm really wanting to get another TV show going that's travel based exploring urban culture.  Tyler... let's do this.
  • My record in solving the Rubik's Cube is 2 minutes 28 seconds.  Slow by "cubing" standards but I find it therapeutic.  Sorry again, for geeking out on everyone.
  • Looking forward to reading Jim Collins new book, How the Mighty Fall.  I need to read more.
  • I wish Amy Winehouse would get some real help.  She really needs it.  And, I need a new album to listen to.
  • I was going to blog how cool I think it is that Hillsong United's album was No. 2 on iTunes Top 10 right behind Eminem.  I think it's cool.
  • Rediscovered Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches as of late thanks to @mariadelpilar.  So good.
  • I got hit up on Facebook chat by one Karrie Detwiler asking for money because she was stuck in Heathrow Airport in London.  Wanted me to wire her the money.  Then she went to DNSLNS which was a mistake because I saw that the IP was actually from Nigeria.  Anyone out there actually know this chick cause she's friends with a bunch of you.  Weird.
  • Happy Flag Day everyone!
What was your week like?

Sunday Randomness - May 31, 2009
  • I like salads... alot.  I just don't like fixing them.
  • Had a good "friend" week.  Hung out with Tyler, Cory, Tony and the rest of the gang at Cory's Friday night.  Then saw Steven Lambert and Cody Barnes last night.  Then today, had lunch with Adam and Jerilyn.  I need to connect more with these guys and grapple with real issues.  Always a good time and I walk away thinking.
  • "Night at the Museum" has played on our Apple TV at least 47 times this week.
  • The AC is out in the car... and the house.  And summer hit this week in full force.
  • Up was a good movie and even better with Benaiah and Maria.
  • Enjoyed meeting up with Spencer Sutton and hearing what NeverThirst is doing.  Hopefully I'll be able to hit up a trip with them at some point.
  • I need a good book to read.  Any recommendations?
  • It's such a random Sunday that I can't think of anymore more random things to type.

Project 1974

It's simple really. Google Image Search your birth year and go crazy. I give you the glorious 1974... I want one of those plaid jumpshoot the gear is wearing in the top left and I'll drive around in the car ont the top right.  That would be luscious indeed.  "Indeed" is a fun word.

Sunday Randomness - May 24, 2009

So another week ends (or begins depending the way you look at it).  That means another random recap.

  • I'm glad the Lakers won last night but Lebron hitting the buzzer-beater the other night was amazing.  Here's hoping for a Lakers/Cavs Finals matchup.
  • The Muir Glen Organic soups at Publix are incredible... especially the Classic Minestrone.
  • I think I like Alouette soft cheese better than Boursin.  Something about the texture.
  • That's two items in a row about food.  Can you tell I'm eating lunch right now?
  • After a couple of weeks of internal debate, I've decided not to blog about the new movie about Banksy simply because it has Joan Collins in it.
  • Question: Is it wrong that I wanted to gank the special speaker at Highlands today and steal his watch?  I mean, I didn't but I wanted to.
  • He also said "watch this" a bunch of times which I think is funny.
  • I'm glad to have Cody Barnes up here now and looking forward to connecting again more and more.
  • I'm trying out the Thomas Nelson Book Review Bloggers program.  I'll let you know how it turns out.  Of course, I have to because that's part of the agreement.  You should check it out as well.
  • Ever since living in Northern Ireland for three months last year, I don't mind rain anymore (and it's been raining a lot lately).  I actually kind of like it.
  • Been feeling the need to get to Zimbabwe and visit Alan and Dorothy.  Saw a great t-shirt the other day that said, "I need Africa more than Africa needs me."
  • I'm glad we have honey again at the house.  Kept forgetting to pick some up.  I've been missing my black tea with honey.
  • I know I tweeted about it, but I dropped my Nikon flash this week and had to replace it.  Not good.
  • Saw Star Trek again for the second time.  I understood it more the first time around.  Like it was crystal clear.  But, now I'm confused.
  • I need to write an "About Me" page or something for DNSLNS but I don't know what I would say.

A Shameless Brag

I love photography.  I always have.  I get it from my dad and some of my best memories are of us in the darkroom late at night developing pics.

I'm really just jumping into it though since getting a secondhand Nikon D200 for Christmas last year.  So, I'm by no means a great photographer (just ask my friend Dana who critiques the mess out of my photos) but I'm having fun with it.  That's why the email I got from Hilton Hotels this week was so surprising.

Evidently they are putting up a new hotel in Leeds and want to use my pic, "Cheap Seats" on their room number signs.  They're also interested in some of my other Birmingham Barons images.  Fun, fun... and a little shameless brag right here at DNSLNS.

Sunday Randomness - May 17, 2009

I don't blog much on the weekends.  That is to say, that I don't publish much on the weekends.  I blog plenty but it's all for the following week so I don't get backed up... and that's not a reference to my digestive system either.  Anyway, this concept for Sundays comes from Brody Harper's "Stats Suck Sunday" where he basically just lists things that happened during the week or whatever since not many people tune in on the weekends.  And since I don't want to completely rip off the concept, here it's simply Sunday Randomness (Real creative I know).

  • Today is my mom's 60th birthday.  Happy Birthday, mom.  I love you.
  • This week my wife landed a role in the series we've been casting for: LifeAfter.  She's pretty stoked and I am too.
  • I took a bunch of pics today at a Kindergarten Graduation.  Ben hates having his picture taken.
  • I'm really happy with the way Ben's mohawk turned out.  He's such a cool kid.
  • We've been talking about adoption alot more lately.  I just want to do it for the right reasons and make sure it's the right time.
  • It was cool to see Amy Grant again this week and spend some time.  I confessed my love for shoes and she thought I meant women's.  She's cooler than any of you know.
  • Loved seeing Adam last night.  So proud of him and Jer.
  • I wonder what will become of DNSLNS.  I really don't obsess about it but I don't want it to be all "catty."  I wonder what would happen if we really had healthy conversation where love and respect for each other trumped being right.
  • I'm glad the Lakers advanced and can't stand the Nuggets or the Rockets.  No reason really except that I think both teams are just full of thugs and goons.
  • I love the word goon.
  • I've been wrestling with purpose lately.  What is mine and how can I make that my priority?
  • I love my church.  A lot.
  • I also love grill-cheesed sandwiches.  But not as much as my church.

What was your week like last week?
