13,000 Flash Mobbers Close Liverpool Street Station

Flashmob

On Friday, February 9th at 7:00pm, 13,000 people showed up at Liverpool Street Station to have a "silent" dance party.  Organized by a simple Facebook page, the flashmob shut down the station for 90 minutes while officials tried to figure out what to do.

While everyone danced away to private tunes in their iPods, others weren't amused as they were delayed in getting home to their families from work.

That's the power of social media.  I wonder what we could do together if we didn't just use it for silly stuff.

What are some ways you've heard that social media is making a difference? Come on... don't be shy.  Fill me in or let me know your own original idea.
